March 2016 Favorites

Wednesday, March 30, 2016

I can even begin to explain how amazing March was for me. It's probably been the best month of 2016 so far! I had so many amazing experiences and had a huge influx of products that I feel like I can't live without now. You can check out the video above to see what makeup products really stood out to me this month along with other favorites like video games, music, and experiences.

Jouer Essential Lip Enhancer Review

Monday, March 28, 2016
I got this product in my ipsy Gen Beauty swag bag. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

I know that not that long ago I raved about the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy being my new favorite lip treatment, but there's a new player in town. I mean, I still like the F.A.B one, but this puppy floats my boat a little bit better. The somewhat pearly pale white/pink, unassuming tube with golf writing doesn't look super interesting, but it's what is on the inside that matters.

My Experience at the Gen Beauty LA Cocktail Party + Haul

Sunday, March 27, 2016

Oh my lort. This video is super, super late. I know, I know... but life went to hell after Generation Beauty. I got dumped, my hard drive gave up on life, and just a slough of other hardships happened, so that's why this is going up about 2 months late. Whoops.

Trust Fund Beauty Polish in "I'm Kind of a Big Deal" Review + Swatch

I've definitely heart of Trust Fund Beauty through ipsy. I've seen their simplistic, rectangular bottles show up for years now in my YouTube subscription box, but never got the chance to try one out myself until my February GlamBag.

Time to Review my Beauty Empties

Thursday, March 17, 2016

Ok, yeah, I let my trash hoarding get a little out of hand. I've used up a LOT of stuff in the past 3-4 months and I wanted to share my thoughts on them with you! A lot of this stuff, like hair care and everyday items, don't really make it to the blog or I don't talk about them much on my YouTube channel, so these kind of videos are one of my favorites to film because it brings a LOT of variety, and a LOT of information about things in a condensed sound bite.

What do you think of empties videos? Love 'em? Hate 'em? Let me know in the comments!

My Beauty Lust List

Wednesday, March 16, 2016
As much as I'd like to be able to splash out on whatever product I wish, it's just not the case. I have a little mental list of things I want to buy and decided to share it with you lovely people today. Maybe you, dear reader, have had some experience with some of these products and can tell me what you think.

*UPDATE: I may or may not have purchased quite a few of these things and then some after being painfully responsible with my tax return. Oh what it is to be young and get the tax credit because you were a broke college student*

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water Review

Thursday, March 10, 2016
Affiliate Link

Micellar waters are definitely trending in skincare and this Garnier one is the latest to hit the drugstore. I'm gonna be honest with you guys, prior to trying this one, I'd only ever used two others - the one from Simple, and a long discontinued and highly fragranced YSL micellar water. Even with my limited exposure, I can still say that I feel a bit "eh" about this one. It falls right in the middle of the two, meaning I don't love it, but I don't think it's horrible.

February Favorites & Fails

Wednesday, March 9, 2016

FINALLY! I feel so bad for not updating my channel in almost a month, but what could I do with no computer! Today's video features my February favorite products, along with some serious fails. If you're a frequent reader of my blog, you're already well acquainted with a few of these products, but I do have a few items that I haven't gabbed about on here. Also disclaimer here: I've got quite a few PR items in here, but all opinion expressed are my own.

Below are little sparknotes of what I liked and disliked, but they're really supposed to be supplemental bits to the video. HINT - you'd make my day by subscribing.

Essence Sheer & Shine Lipsticks in "BFF" and "Frosted" Review + Swatches

The lovely people at Essence sent me these for consideration. All opinions and thoughts expressed are my own.

Here we have another Essence Spring 2016 launch! I posted about their Liquid Lipsticks earlier this week if you'd like to check that out. Sheer washes of color really scream spring to me, and these Sheer & Shine lippies provide just that. Sure, full opaque lipsticks are near and dear to my heat, but sometimes you've gotta have a low maintenance option like these babes.

Dr Lip Bang's Lip Freak "Sinister Berry" Review + Swatch

Tuesday, March 8, 2016

Impulse buy areas are one of my major downfalls, and that is where I found this weirdo lip balm. I mean, the packaging was so interesting and the wording "the strongest buzzing lip balm in the world" were too hard to resist.

Essence Liquid Lipstick "Almost Real", "Colour Party", and "Show Off" Review + Swatches

Monday, March 7, 2016
These liquid lipsticks were sent to me for consideration. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Essence released these new liquid lipsticks as part of their Spring 2016 lineup. I was sent 3 of the six shades - "Almost Real", a light nude, "Colour Party", a creamy light pink, and "Show Off", a creamy coral red. These liquid lipsticks are supposed to combine "the best of both lipstick and lip gloss", i.e. you're supposed to "get the impact and coverage of a lipstick with the moisturizing shine of a gloss". I honestly think that "liquid lipstick" is a misnomer. These are more of a pigmented gloss than a true liquid lipstick, and they behave and wear like so. I'm definitely not a gloss fan, but I'll try my best to be objective.

Must Go Event: The Makeup Show LA 2016 and Keynote Speakers

Sunday, March 6, 2016

I was lucky enough to snag a press pass to The Makeup Show L.A., a two day event dedicated to artistry, networking, community, inspiration, and education for the makeup professional running from March 19th until March 20th at California Market Center. The lovely bloggin' ladies that I had the honor to hang around with during Generation Beauty said that TMS LA was hands down their favorite trades show because it was more intimate than IMATS, and more focused than Gen Beauty. I'm really looking forward to attending!

Marc Jacobs Twinkle Pop in "Volver" Review + Swatch

This Twinkle Pop in "Volver" is my first introduction to Marc Jacob's makeup line. The wonderful Laura Neuzeth gushes about these and she had me at their cooling effect and long-wearing ability. I went swatch happy at Sephora and tried out all of the shades. Even though "Volver" was the sheerest one with a small chunking problem, I knew I was going to use this peachy champagne shade the most, and that's the story of how I snapped up the last one they had in the store.

NYX Be Gone! Lip Color Remover Review

Saturday, March 5, 2016
This product is a PR sample given to me for consideration. I posted this review because I wanted to, not because I had to and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

With long wearing lip products and liquid lipstick becoming increasingly popular, there's been a need for a gentle and effective removal method. If you're a liquid lipstick lover or do lip swatch videos, you may want to pick this up and make your life a little easier and less painful. This product is supposed to thoroughly condition and pamper the lips while effectively wiping away long-lasting lip color, and it does just that.

NUDESTIX Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencil in "Belle" Review and Swatches

Wednesday, March 2, 2016
NUDESTIX was kind enough to include this product in the Gen Beauty cocktail swag bag, ergo it's a press sample. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

NUDESTIX has been one of those brands that I knew existed, but didn't hear much about. After meeting the creators, Ally and Taylor Frankel, at Gen Beauty LA, researching the brand a little, and trying out their newest lip creation, I'm a little shocked as to why it's not buzzed about as much as it deserves. I don't want to get too far into the brand and what it stands for in fear of sounding repetitive in an upcoming brand review, but the basic rubdown is that these products are supposed to enhance your natural beauty and give you a nude, fresh, and put together look, which is what I'm finding I'm all about in 2016.
