Essence The Gel Nail Polish in "Rock My World!" Reveiw
Friday, February 26, 2016
Aaaand we've got another PR sample from my Gen Beauty cocktail swag bag. All opinions and thoughts expressed are my own and I am not being monetarily compensated for featuring this product. You know the drill by now.
I've been a fan of Essence nail polishes since 2007. No joke. I've been through a packaging change, and now a reformulation since the regular polishes have been replaced by this "The Gel" polish. "Rock My World!" is a dark, stormy blue/green based grey.
Wet n Wild 1 Step Wonder Gel in "Condensed Milk" Review
Monday, February 15, 2016
I picked this up on a whim at Rite Aid. I'd seen the display for these all over the place since the beginning of the year and decided that it was time to bite the bullet and pick one up. At $4.99 these are definitely the cheapest lightless gel product that I've been able to find. There were a ton of different of shades and I was definitely eyeballing the black, mint green, and a nice wine shade, but I ultimately ended up settling on this milky pale pink nude shade.
Fuse Gelnamel Starter Kit in Na-No Way! First Impressions
Wednesday, September 24, 2014
I've had my eyeball on the Fuse Gelnamel Starter Kits for a hot minute, but I never wanted to shell out the $29.99 for one. Thankfully I was lucky enough to pick one up for half off at Rite Aid this week! Yay!
Despite being incredibly girly and cosmetics obsessed, I'm quite low maintenance and despise having to do my nails more than once or maybe twice a week. I've been getting gel manicures for a while now, but it is really taking a toll on my disposable income, so it was finally time for me to bite the bullet and buy my first at-home gel nail kit.
Clinique Black Honey Nail Polish Dupe!
Sunday, May 25, 2014
Yeah, yeah... nearly black nail polishes are out of season, I know. I just couldn't help but share this dupe with you though since Clinique Black Honey is one of my go-to vampy shades for Fall.
Spring Budget Buys: Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish
Monday, March 10, 2014
Spring has finally returned to Oregon - and by "returned", I of course mean we have intermittent days of sunshine and torrential downpours. I'm not going to lie, I've definitely caught the sun bug and my normally dark and moody preference for nail varnishes has been replaced for bright, poppy colors to either reflect or remind me of the wonderful bright days of spring!
My latest voyage to the drugstore brought me to the Rimmel stand at a local Walgreens, and the 60 Seconds polish line certainly caught my eye (especially since the whole brand is 50% off this week). I'll shoot straight with y'all (like always), and say that this line isn't without fault, but for under $2 a bottle, I'm willing to overlook a few boo-boos.
Polish shades from top to bottom: 120 Hot Chili Pepper, 311 Caramel Cupcake, 410 I Lilac You, 210 Mintilicious

Product Review: Clinique A Different Nail Enamel in Black Honey
Saturday, September 28, 2013
After having my only experiences with high end nail polishes be negative (Chanel = gorgeous but obscenely short lived, and Dior = just plain horrible), I've kind of sworn off buying any nail lacquer outside of the drugstore. The only two reasons that I actually ventured out of my allowed budget with this polish were that a) I was wondering about how this was such "a different nail enamel" from others, and b) I needed to tip my Clinique purchase over the $25 mark in order to get the really rad sample set for free. Probably not the best reasons ever, but I digress.
One teeny tiny note about the packaging before we go forth into the world of lacquer; I consider myself to be a bit of a minimalist, but this packaging is a little too minimalist. It has some weight to it, but aesthetically it looks cheaper than cheap. Not a fan. The brush is fine, I don't fumble with the lid, everything is perfectly functioning, but I just look at the bottle and I want to doze off.
Naturally I went with the darkest creme finish from the line, a.k.a Black Honey, because those are pretty hard to screw up and my beloved Essie Carry On needed to be retired due to old age. By my understanding, the shade Black Honey is kind of a legend when it comes to the Clinique line since I've had a few friends rave about it (hello, Molls), and it's a shade found in various forms in the makeup line. I'm kinda seeing why this blackened berry is so popular! Three coats of this beauty creates a suuuper deep shade that is more interesting than straight up black, but more demure than an obvious dark berry.
Besides being that certain shade of irresistible vampiness that seems to linger on my nails FAR after the cold weather has left, does this nail polish actually stack up to it's $12.50 price tag? Find out after the jump:

Product Review: Maybelline Color Show Holographic Nail Laquer in Mystic Green
Sunday, June 23, 2013
Maybelline, Maybelline, Maybelline. We need to have a talk. In the past, we've been pretty good buddies, but recently your new collections have been brining me down. First your new Electro Baby Lips left my lips itching for moisture, and then your new Shine-Free Stick Foundation left me rethinking my reflective complexion, and now this holographic polish has left me anything but dazzled. What's going on?
Maybelline claims that Mystic Green is a "holographic"shade, which is total bogus. It's a gorgeous sea green with a slight blue shift, but it's by no stretch of the imagination holographic.
Beauty Purchases of January 2013
Friday, February 1, 2013
I purchased a landmark number of products last month. Anyone want to guess a number? $20 it's significantly lower than what you're imagining.
Here is a hint: It's more than 2, but less than 4. I'm even a bit baffled by my lack of usual product splurging! I can't really remember a time that I've bought so few items, but hey... if I really want to keep my makeup "collection" as condensed as possible after a loooooong journey of de-stashing (which you can follow here), sacrifices MUST be made, i.e. no more willy nilly product snatching.
Since this month has a very manageable number of purchases, why not do a little bulk review? Sounds fun, right?

Revlon ColorStay Longwear Nail Enamel in Bare Bones, Physicians Formula Conceal RX in Natural Light, and Rimmel Match Perfection 2-in-1 Concealer & Highlighter in Light
I'll admit, this is a pretty pedestrian "haul", but hey... at least I'm happy with 2/3rds of the purchases.
