Milk Makeup Natural Deodorant Review

I've been wanting to try Milk Makeup products for ages. The minimalist designs, the cool-girl vibe, and eco-conscious products really caught my eye. Unfortunately, not a lot of Milk Makeup items are available in my area so I had to settle for trying out what I could find. Fortunately I've been on the hunt for an aluminum-free deodorant for a minute, so picking up the Milk Makeup Natural Deodorant wasn't a begrudging buy.

The packaging really, really speaks to me. The sealed bag, the stickers, and the über simplistic product itself immediately sparked joy the second I saw it. What can I say... minimalism with the endearing twist of stickers has been really sticking with me lately (pun intended). The lower portion of the cylindrical package has an almost rubberized texture, and the translucent grey screw-off cap comes with an additional small plastic dome which is presumably there to prevent the stick from drying out. Thankfully the deodorant scrolls both up and down.

The deodorant has the appearance of a semi-opaque balm in addition to having the feel and slip of one too. I was honestly expecting it to be a hard crystal deo, so that was a pleasant surprise. This does have a light lavender scent to it that reminds me of Dr. Bronners soap. Even though Milk touts the lavender as a soothing agent, lavender essential oil can be irritating to the skin, which did make me a little hesitant to rub it all over my freshly shaved pits.

And just like I expected, it did burn a little. The application was very pleasant as it glided over my skin and didn't cause any product build-up, but a few minutes in my pits started to feel a little tingle. Not gonna lie, it felt like a localized beer buzz or a less intense Icy Hot. However, with continued use I began to notice the pit buz less and less. This is purely a deodorant, and not an anti-perspirant, so it did nothing to stop any sweating, not that I was expecting it to. As for its effectiveness at keeping B.O. at bay, it's not that great. It fares well for a few hours before needed reapplication, but doesn't stand up to a brisk walk. Maybe I'm just being spoiled and prefer my deo to last all day.

TL;DR

Size: 1 oz/28 g

Price: $14

Where to buy: Sephora, MILK MAKEUP, Urban Outfitters

Pros:

  • Packaging is tré chic
  • Aluminum free
  • Glides on
  • No product build up

Cons:
  • Burns a bit
  • Doesn't last

Cruelty free: yeppers

Final thoughts: This was a big miss for me. The pit buzz, the short lasting power, and the odd scent was a total turn off. Honestly, I ended up returning this. The hunt continues!

  1. Seems they had a good return policy, as most brands here in my country would not allow a deodorant to be returned :)

    1. I purchased it from Sephora and their return policy is BOMB! I always make a point of buying unknowns from companies that have reputable customer service or from retailers with excellent return policies.

Where are ya from, if you don't mind me asking?
