I've been a fan of Essence nail polishes since 2007. No joke. I've been through a packaging change, and now a reformulation since the regular polishes have been replaced by this "The Gel" polish. "Rock My World!" is a dark, stormy blue/green based grey.
Application was pretty easy since these polishes feature that wide, domed brush that covers a lot of ground with just one or two swipes. This was opaque in two coats and set pretty quickly. The formula wasn't runny, but I did notice it getting a little goopy on the second coat, but it seemed to sort itself out, leaving a uniform surface with a very impressive shine.
Without a base or top coat, this polish lasted about two days without chipping. After a week they looked pretty worse for wear, but again, this is the product by itself. With proper prep, I can see this lasting much longer, but it'll also do quite nicely in a pinch when you need a cheap, quick manicure and you can't spare the time for a base and top coat.
TL;DR Section
Price: $1.99
Availability: Ulta, Fred Meyer, Target
Pros:
Cons:
Cruelty free: Yep!
Final Verdict: Short-ish wear time when used alone a side, I don't think you can go wrong with this polish for only $1.99. Various polishes from this line have been staples in my collection at one point or another for the past 9 years, and this new formula has definitely secured that fact. At such a low price point it'll be easy to stock up and try out new shades from the line.
